چکیده

The existence of multiple time scales in molecular dynamics poses interesting and challenging questions from an analytical as well as from a numerical point of view In this paper we consider simpli ed models with two essential time scales and describe how these two time scales inter act The discussion focuses on classical molecular dynamics CMD with fast bond stretching and bending modes and the so called quantum classical molecular dynamics QCMD model where the quantum part provides the highly oscillatory solution components The analytic res ults on the averaging over fast degrees of motion will also shed new light on the appropriate implementation of multiple time stepping MTS algorithms for CMD and QCMD

Quantum - Classical Molecular Dynamics

We study time integration methods for equations of mixed quantum-classical molecular dynamics in which Newtonian equations of motion and Schrr odinger equations are nonlinearly coupled. Such systems exhibit diierent time scales in the classical and the quantum evolution, and the solutions are typically highly oscillatory. The numerical methods use the exponential of the quantum Hamiltonian whos...

Parallel Version of the Combined QuantumClassical Molecular Dynamics Code for ComplexMolecular and Biomolecular Systems

The parallel versions of the Quantum Classical Molecular Dynamics code is presented. The execution time scales almost linear with the number of processors. The measured overhead of the parallelization paradigm is extremally small which ensures the high eeciency of the presented method. Molecular dynamics (MD) is an important tool for studying biomolecular systems. However, conventional Newtonia...

When the classical & quantum mechanical considerations hint to a single point; a microscopic particle in a one dimensional box with two infinite walls and a linear potential inside it

In this paper we have solved analytically the Schrödinger equation for a microscopic particle in a one-dimensional box with two infinite walls, which the potential function inside it, has a linear form. Based on the solutions of this special quantum mechanical system, we have shown that as the quantum number approaches infinity the expectation values of microscopic particle position and square ...

Effective Hamiltonians for motions with disparate time scales: The quantum shell model and the classical statistical shell model

The shell model of atomic polarizability is generalized to include a statistical distribution of shell states for each instantaneous configuration of the cores. Effective Hamiltonians for motions of the cores are derived for both quantum and classical descriptions of the shells. This extends the shell model into a formalism useful for molecular -dynamics. The fluctuations of the shell positions...

Constacyclic Codes over Group Ring (Zq[v])/G

Recently, codes over some special finite rings especially chain rings have been studied. More recently, codes over finite non-chain rings have been also considered. Study on codes over such rings or rings in general is motivated by the existence of some special maps called Gray maps whose images give codes over fields. Quantum error-correcting (QEC) codes play a crucial role in protecting quantum ...
